When the news about Rhea, a featherless lovebird, needing a home was posted on social media, Isabella Eisenmann, a 23-year-old woman from Boston saw it and decided to help. Everyone from all around the world is now falling in love with Rhea, Eisenmann’s lovebird, following her on Instagram and even sending custom-made sweaters to her.
It’s not just because Rhea wants to look good that she needs those sweaters, she also needs to stay warm, for the fact that she has a disease called Psittacine that affects her feather and beak, keeping her quite “naked”. It is well known that severe cases of Psittacine can make birds to lose their beaks and claws. Fortunately for Rhea, what she has is only a mild case of Psittacine, and all she needs is just one annual blood test.
In addition, Rhea is a completely happy bird and very social. She always goes out of her cage, runs around in the house, and even sometimes sings like crazy! Rhea is a lovebird you will fall in love with. She proves that she’s “different” and is super cute.
Eisenmann explained to Bored Panda: ‘Acceptance is the word. It doesn’t matter how different your physical looks may be, you are always beautiful; that’s a lesson I want everyone to learn from Rhea. Be happy always, smile and show a positive attitude’.
